Mr. McKinley - 5th Grade

Welcome to 5th grade and the 2024-2025 school year. Previously, I have taught 3rd grade at Terra Vista Elementary for 7 years, 4th grade at Perdew Elementary for 6 years, 1 year of 6th grade math/science at Summit Intermediate, 5 years in 5th grade at DWL, and this is my 6th year teaching at EH. So if my math is correct, this will be my 25th year teaching in Etiwanda. Before becoming a teacher I worked in the field of architecture. I helped design churches, hospitals, schools, and some residential projects. I didn't discover the joy of teaching until my oldest daughter started kindergarten. It's a story I like to tell at every Back-to-School night and I hope you will be there to hear it. My wife and I have been married for 38 years and we have 4 children. Three of my daughters are college graduates and two are now married. (That makes me feel old!) My son is 18 years old and graduated high school. I'm a competitive swimmer and love being outdoors, camping, hiking, and working around my home or cabin. My goal is to provide your child with the best 5th grade year possible.
